Music and art

If you are a musician then there is a lot you can get involved with at Newnham! The Newnham Music Society is called the Rayleigh Society, and they hold lots of concerts throughout the year. There are also several choirs at Newnham, both auditioned and non-auditioned. Information about the Rayleigh Society and the choirs will be circulated at the start of term.

There is a Newnham orchestra, who do not rehearse regularly but come together to practice before events (such as the Christmas concert). This is non-auditioned and open to all. Regarding facilities, there are music practice rooms, several grand pianos (one of which is in the MCR) and a harpsichord which can be used by MCR members.

For more information about the musical side of life at Newnham please see the main college website .

If you are an artist then you should have a look at the art & crafts room! You will need an induction to access it, which is typically organised by a volunteer at the start of the academic year.
